What is Military Service Pay (MSP) in the 8th Pay Commission?

MSP is a fixed monthly amount for the hardships of military life. Only the armed forces get it, for all ranks up to Brigadier. It counts for DA and pension. Confirmed

Will MSP increase in the 8th CPC? Nothing is decided. In 2016 MSP rose roughly by the general factor (₹2,000 → ₹5,200, ₹6,000 → ₹15,500). If that repeats, JCO/OR MSP would be about ₹10,400 at 2.0 and ₹13,400 at 2.57. Estimate

How much will a Sepoy’s pay really rise?

DA restarts from zero when a new pay matrix starts. So compare new basic + new MSP with today’s basic + MSP + 63% DA.

Real rise ≈ (Fitment factor ÷ 1.63) − 1. A factor up to 1.63 only absorbs today’s DA.
