Corrections Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Readers rely on our calculators and updates to understand their pay, pension and allowances. When we get something wrong, we want to fix it quickly and openly. This policy explains how to report an error and what we do about it.

How to report an error

Email editor@8thpaycalculator.in with the subject line “Correction request”, or use the form on our Contact Us page. To help us check quickly, please include:

  • the page link (URL);
  • what you believe is wrong, quoting the sentence or figure;
  • for a calculator: the inputs you entered (pay level, basic pay, DA rate, city class, years of service and so on), the result you got and the result you expected;
  • the official source that supports the correction, if you have one (OM number and date, Gazette notification, PIB release, or a link).

Please do not send personal documents such as your PPO, salary slip, Aadhaar or PAN. We do not need them, and we cannot check individual cases.

What happens next

  1. Acknowledgement: we aim to reply within 2 working days.
  2. Check: we verify the point against the official source. Errors in a calculator result, a DA/DR rate, a pay or pension figure, or a date are handled first.
  3. Fix: once an error is confirmed, we aim to correct the page within 3 working days, and sooner for calculator errors that affect many users. If a calculator is found to give wrong results and the fix will take longer, we will put a notice on the calculator until it is corrected.
  4. Reply: we tell you what we changed, or explain why we did not change the page.

How corrections are shown

  • Factual errors (a wrong figure, date, rate, order number or name): we correct the text and add a dated note at the end of the article, or at the top if the error affected the main point. Example:
    “Correction, 14 October 2026: An earlier version of this article gave the DA rate from 1 January 2026 as 58%. The correct rate is 60%, as per the relevant DoE office memorandum.”
  • Calculator errors: we fix the formula, re-run our test cases, and add a dated note on the calculator page describing what changed and which results were affected.
  • Status changes (for example, a Proposed or Estimate figure becomes Confirmed): this is an update rather than a correction. We change the label, add a dated “Update” note, and link to the official source.
  • Minor edits (spelling, grammar, formatting, broken links) that do not change the meaning are made without a note.

We do not delete articles to hide mistakes. If a post is withdrawn because it is seriously wrong or out of date, we say so on the page or redirect it to the current, correct page.

What we cannot do

We cannot resolve individual pay fixation, arrears or pension disputes, and we cannot contact government offices on your behalf. For your own case, please contact your Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO), Pay and Accounts Office (PAO), Head of Office or pension disbursing authority. Pensioners can also use the government’s grievance portal, CPGRAMS.
