Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees is 60% of basic pay from 1 January 2026, up from 58% (DoE OM dated 22.04.2026). DA is revised twice a year, from 1 January and 1 July, based on the All India Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW). Under 7th CPC, the fitment factor is 2.57x, applied on Basic + Grade Pay.

The 7th CPC factor of 2.57 was used once, to move pay from the 6th CPC pay bands into the 7th CPC pay matrix on 1 January 2016; today your basic pay is simply your cell in the pay matrix. Factors such as 2.86 or 3.0 that you may see for the 8th CPC are assumptions, not announcements.
