Fitment factor and minimum pay: nothing official yet
Any fitment factor, minimum basic pay or increment rate you see quoted for the 8th CPC is a demand or a media estimate, not a government figure. The Commission has not recommended any pay figures, and the Government has not notified any. We will report them here only when they appear in an official document.
When could the new pay take effect?
No implementation date has been notified. The Cabinet press release of 28 October 2025 said that, going by the usual ten-year gap between pay commissions, “the effect of the 8th Central Pay Commission recommendations would normally be expected from 01.01.2026.” That is an expectation stated by the Government, not a notified date, and the Lok Sabha answer of 10 August 2026 gave no effective date.
DA in the meantime: 63% from 1 July 2026
Until the 8th CPC is implemented, pay continues under the 7th CPC with Dearness Allowance. The Department of Expenditure raised DA from 60% to 63% of basic pay with effect from 1 July 2026 by OM No. 1/2(i)/2026-E.II(B) dated 29 October 2026. The Cabinet had approved the same 3% rise for DA and for pensioners’ Dearness Relief on 28 October 2026 (PIB).

What happens after the report
- The Commission submits its report to the Government.
- The Government examines it and the Cabinet decides what to accept.
