No. The Commission has not finished its work, so there is no matrix to publish. Confirmed

The 8cpc.gov.in What’s New page lists only city visit notices and consultant guidelines. The latest item is the Mumbai visit notice of 21 September 2026 (checked 18 October 2026).

A real matrix will come in two steps: the Commission’s report, then a Government notification of revised pay rules. Both will be on a .gov.in site. Ignore PDFs shared on WhatsApp or Telegram. How back pay would work once a date of effect is set: 8th Pay Commission arrears explained.

What is a pay matrix?

It is the pay table for central government staff. Each column is a pay level. Each row is a cell.

  • Your level depends on your post. Your cell depends on your increments.
  • One annual increment moves you one cell down. Each step is about 3%.
  • Civilians, defence personnel and the Military Nursing Service have separate matrices (Cabinet decision, 29 Jun 2016). Confirmed
  • The 7th CPC fixed the first cell of each level with an “Index of Rationalisation”, which grows with responsibility. Confirmed

See every cell of today’s table on our 7th CPC pay matrix (Level 1–18) page.

How was the 7th CPC pay matrix made?

Old basic pay (pay in pay band + grade pay) was multiplied by 2.57. Minimum pay went from ₹7,000 to ₹18,000. Confirmed

The result was then placed in the new matrix. Rule 7 of the CCS (Revised Pay) Rules, 2016 says: if no cell matches, take the next higher cell.

Example from the rules: ₹12,560 (PB-1 + GP 2400) × 2.57 = ₹32,279 → next cell in Level 4 = ₹32,300

DA was 125% on 1 January 2016. So ₹7,000 basic was really ₹15,750 with DA. ₹18,000 ÷ ₹15,750 = a 14.29% real rise. The Cabinet called it “at least 14.29%” (PM India, 29 Jun 2016). Confirmed
